Sending cards to a list of people? You can upload all your addresses at once using our CSV import feature during checkout — no need to type each one in.
🎥 Watch it in action: See how to import and format your addresses step-by-step in our video tutorial below.
Follow the steps below to download the template, upload your CSV file, and review your recipient list.
1️⃣ Download and Prepare the CSV Template
- Start by downloading our address template: https://www.mixbook.com/resources/contacts_template.csv
- Open it in Excel or Google Sheets.
- What to fill out:
- Name on Envelope (required)
- Add the full name or family name (for example “The Smiths”).
- Missing names will result in error.
- Address Line 1
- Address Line 2 (optional)
- City
- State / Province
- ZIP / Postal Code
- Name on Envelope (required)
- Before saving:
- Be sure to enter just one contact per row.
- Remove blank rows or extra spaces
- Keep header names exactly as shown
- Format ZIP codes as Text so leading zeros don’t disappear.
- Save as .CSV (UTF-8)
2️⃣ Upload Your CSV to Mixbook
You can import your addresses in two places: while ordering your card or directly from your cart.
Option A: Upload during Checkout
- Create your card and click Order in Mixbook Studio.
- On the Checkout page, select your paper type and quantity.
- Under Printed Envelopes, open the Address section.
- Click Add Contact → Import From File.
- Click Upload File and select your CSV.
- Mixbook will show how many contacts were imported and any errors that need fixing.
Option B: Upload from Your Cart
- Go to your Cart.
- Next to your paper type, click Change.
- You’ll return to the Checkout page where you can upload your CSV following the steps above.
💡 Tip: Fix any flagged errors before completing your order to avoid returned mail later.
3️⃣ Review Your Recipients
After uploading, your contacts will appear in a list where you can:
- Select or deselect recipients
- Review imported details
- Re-upload your CSV if you corrected errors
4️⃣ Best Practices
- Use consistent state abbreviations (for example “CA”).
- Use a fresh CSV for each occasion.
- Keep a backup of your CSV for future reference.
5️⃣ Troubleshooting
If your file doesn’t upload correctly:
- “0 contacts imported”: Make sure your first row contains headers and every row has a Name on Envelope.
- ZIP code issues: Format the ZIP column as Text before saving.
- Duplicates: Remove any duplicate rows in your CSV and re-upload.
💡 Pro Tip
Using CSV import makes sending holiday cards, announcements, and invitations fast and effortless — so you can focus on celebrating, not spreadsheets.
